Swine Flu – Keeping Healthy at Work
With the emergence of a virulent swine flu raising concern as it spreads around the world at lightning speed, it is no surprise that the U.S. government has focused special attention on the workplace, where millions of people congregate daily. As reports of flu clusters dominate the media, the Department of Labor has issued guidelines to stop the spread of the flu virus at work. Most of the recommendations are just common sense, including frequent hand washing, not sharing telephones and other office equipment, encouraging telecommuting when necessary, and letting sick workers stay home. But, even the most basic public health suggestions bear repeating as the authorities act to avoid a pandemic.
